Review of Avenging Angel, A Shannon Wallace Mystery

Review by Aaron Paul Lazar

A great read doesn't have to be fancy, full of literary allusions or deep musings. Nor does it need a ritzy setting, plots that twist your brain into a pretzel, or elite protagonists.

What a great read does need is a story that moves, characters who linger in your mind, and a voice that calls you back to its pages. Avenging Angel by Kim Smith accomplished all three.

Smith has written a suspenseful cozy mystery set in the south in a small lazy town. Shannon Wallace,… Continue

After a long and trying journey, I finished A Will to Love and submitted it.

My editor just responded with kudoes on the writing and a shiny new contract! I am so thrilled!!!

Hope all my mystery fans will enjoy my first ROMANCE! It is a short novella or long short story, however you want to look at it.

Kim,

You can get a copy of Goodnight Robinson several ways: follow the link on my website to purchase it (just go to www.marlafair.com and click on the Marla Fair's storefront link under the images of the book covers, go to lulu.com and type in my name which will bring up my books, or email me at dfair@woh.rr.com if you want to pay by check or money order and I can mail a copy out.

Here are a couple of comments from my readers:

"I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I became so interested in the characters, I had trouble putting the book down when I needed to sleep. As a historic interpreter myself, I really liked the idea of a story involving a historic person and a modern person who researches them and shares their story with others. I really loved the surprise ending! I am looking forward to other books by this engaging author."

"In a lot of historical novels these days characters react in an anachronistic fashion-with modern thoughts, words, and sensibilities. In your book there is a clear distinction between those characters of the present and those of the past. They are not cut from the same cloth - that is no little achievement. It makes is all very real."

Hi, and thanks for having this great site. I'm delighted to find like-minded people not too far from my own zip code. Often I feel like the Lone Ranger here in Central IL. Right now I am really crushed, getting out several books, bam, bam bam...but I hope to have more chat time shortly.

Kim,

'Hi' and thanks for the invite. I see you write as well. I am independently published as of the moment and just begin to promote my work. I write mostly historicals, though my one piece 'Goodnight Robinson' is a time travel/historical/romance. So far it is my best seller. I'm joined here hoping to make connections and so far, it seems to be working. Thanks again.
